The only thing required to fully appreciate the benefits of smart packaging is a phone. The idea is based on microchips using NFC communication standards to transfer unlimited amounts of data. With a special application installed on the device and with the NFC feature activated, users are granted access to the data encrypted on the tag. The data can also be read by sensors placed on a production line.
